Apps Documentation

Learn about the various built-in "apps" in Hubitat Elevation, used for creating automations or integrating services

Apps Documentation

Hubitat "apps" are divided into three categories, each with their own entry in the left-side menu:

  1. Integrations connect your hub to external devices, services, or platforms (e.g., the Hue Bridge Integration app allows integration of Hue Bridge devices into Hubitat over your LAN, and the Google Home app allows exposing Hubitat devices to Google Home).
  2. Automations allow you to create rules or other logic that triggers actions based on events or schedules (e.g., when X happens, do Y).
  3. Apps includes apps that do not fit into the above categories, e.g., utilities that extend the platform’s capabilities or support specialized features and workflows, such as dashboards.

For example, the Basic Rules app is an automation app can be used to perform one or more actions (e.g., turning on a switch) in response to some event (e.g., lock code used).

Retired Apps

Occasionally, an app is deprecated or "retired" and no longer available for installation on new hubs due to a newer app that has functionally replaced it. Documentation for these apps remains below. Existing users can continue to use these apps, or they can migrate to newer solutions.
